ANNOUNCEMENTS
Kiwanis Club of Richmond thanks you for your support through the last 12 years of service. We put on the Bicycle Safety Rodeo for 12 years, National Day of Prayer Luncheon, Community Council, and help with Shop with a Cop at Christmas time. We work with Key Club to make Boo Boo Dolls for Children's Hospital. We contribute to state, national, and international projects to make life better for others.
Our club has decided to dissolve as of June 30, 2011 due to the membership not growing. We are grateful that Richmond Rotary Club will be picking up the Community Council and the National Day of Prayer Luncheon. Kiwanis Club of Romeo will be sponsoring our student clubs. We are grateful for their help in continuing some of the things we have valued through the years.
STUDENT CLUBS WILL CONTINUE
Kiwanis Club of Romeo is going to support the three student clubs--K-Kids at Will L. Lee Elementary School, Builders Club at Richmond Middle School, and Key Club at Richmond High School.
KEY CLUB AT RICHMOND HIGH SCHOOL
Key Club meets both before and after school every other Wednesday under the direction of Mr. Michael Murphy. The group participated in the UNICEF collection for Uruguay. They helped with the Boo Bash at Richmond Middle School. During MCREST, they assisted with set up, clean up, and washing dishes. They decorated pillows for military packages for Christmas. They helped with the packing party sponsored by the Michigan Military Moms which was a great event! Their giving tree brought in many items which were given to Turning Point.
BUILDERS CLUB AT RICHMOND MIDDLE SCHOOL
Kiwanis Representative Janeane Avery works with Sally Hager and Sharleen Plagens to support student leaders of Builders Club. They meet after school on Mondays. They have a bake sale at Richmond Middle School during conference times. For their Christmas fundraiser, they sell fresh Christmas wreaths. They go caroling at Leisure Manor and play their instruments. They make blankets for the homeless, do collections for the military, and reach out to those who are having difficulty. Their annual senior brunch near St. Patrick's Day is a bit hit.
K-KIDS AT WILL L. LEE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
K-Kids meet on the first and third Wednesday right after school in the library. The new leaders will be Caryn Kukuk, Jennifer Andersen, Jennifer Ingman, and Holly Romero. In the past, their service projects included making activity packets for Children's Hosptial. They visit Leisure Manor in the fall and spring and make little gifts for the residents for holidays. K-Kids make Christmas cards to send to soldiers. Their bake sale is held during the elementary Christmas Concert. They led the school in a no-name calling week in January. They give money to a charity of their choice each year.
